The 1997 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships

The 1997 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships took place December 3-7,1996 at the Cantiague Park Ice Arena in Hicksville,New York,sponsored by the Cantiague Figure Skating Club and sanctioned by the United States Figure Skating Association.
(Junior and Senior Compulsory dances were place on the larger ice surface of the Newbridge Road Ice Rink in nearby Bellmore,New York on December 5.Practice ice was available starting December 2, principally at Cantiague Park and the Long Island Skating Academy).

Competitors in the top four divisions of USFSA skating sought to qualify for their respective National titles, with the Novice,Junior,and Senior titles being awarded at the 1997 National Championships in Nashville,Tennessee,the Intermediate crown at the 1997 Kodak Junior Olympics.

History of Easterns

The Easterns began in 1938,and assumed their modern character in 1967. Here is our history page with lists of past sites and champions.
Many National/Olympic/World champions have also worn the Eastern crown!

1997 Easterns

The host committee was headed by Tom Dodge and the Chief Referee was Wendy Weston-Enzmann.

Tickets are $8 per day Tuesday and Wednesday,
$12 per day Thursday,Friday and Saturday;
$50 for all events.
