Subject: WTC Rebuilding #342:Between hearings...

Yesterday's public meeting about the Deutsche Bank demolition plans
(still undergoing regulatory review) drew something around 100 people
by my count.

Sixteen people spoke.Tal Barzilai (who spoke second) and I(who spoke
sixth) were the only pro-rebuilders...I hope tomorrow's meeting on
the Amended General Project Plan (End it,Don't Amend it!!!) will draw
more of us.

Protocol at the 101 Murray Street auditorium involves signing in and
showing photo ID at the front desk,but they do not metal-detect.The
meeting is scheduled for 6 to 9 PM,but they set up an hour early and
last night's ended an hour early.

Last night's was run by Amy Peterson,who apparently has replaced
Anita Contini as the head of Memorial and Cultural Programs.Very few
speakers were at ease about that plan,most were concerned about hazards.
Anything blocking the official mistakes helps us.

On the way out the stenographer talked briefly to me,
dismissing our hopes...but I'm not ashamed.I wore four
REBUILD pins and two Yes I'd Work on the 110th Floor
stickers (split between coat and jacket) as well as a
TTT button.

Kate Millea,the person who collects public comments,
gave me her business card,and indicated that as well
as written and faxed comments she would accept some to
her email address.I also have her direct phone number.

I'll write more after tomorrow evening's meeting and I
hope I will see you there...I have heard nothing about
Libeskind's appearance Sunday.

John Lictro sent me a copy of the letter he faxed to
Congressman Fossella urging him not to go along with
Pataki's appeal to make paying for the Arad memorial
a tax check-off.John is a member of Fossella's party
and a resident of his district,two things that would
make Fossella pay attention...but even if you're not,
do write!

Of course after these hearings I will be doing written
commentary and will provide the text to this email list.
I hope as many as possible of you participate!
